awareness of nature through our gardening program
Here at Christots we strive to develop an awareness of nature through our gardening program. Our outside environment is just as important as our indoor classrooms. The outdoor classroom should be stimulating and inviting. We believe this will enhance our learning of nature and the importance of healthy habits. The longer children have to reinforce good habits and learning skills, the higher the probability that they will be internalized and made a permanent part of their development. Learning habits established at a young age will make a difference in how children perform later in school and beyond into their everyday life. Through the gardening program the children learn the process of life. They are given the opportunity to work hard and see great results. More children are also willing to try new foods they may not have been exposed to if not given the opportunity to take care of these gardens. There is nothing like seeing a child watch their garden grow with excitement and anticipation of picking and eating the fresh fruits or vegetables they have taken care of.
Meet Ms. Cece
Ms. Cece has been with Christots since 2002. Her love for nutrition and food comes through with the meals she prepares for the children and staff. Not only does she plan the school meals and snacks for the month, but she also offers parents the ability to order a delicious and nutritious dinner ready for pick up one night a week. We are honored to have her cook for us here at Christots.
Lunchtime at christots Montessori School
We offer Certified Organic grass fed/grass finished beef now in our meals. We serve hormone free milk too. Our approach to food is helping students develop a more positive, health relationship with food.
